This software takes advantage of your unused disk space to store data from your other computers. This product has a one-time cost of only $50.00 for all of your computers regardless of how much data you have to save, or how many times you run it.
This product will save your data to either another computer on your home network, or onto an external disk drive located on the the same computer. This feature gives you great flexibility when choosing where and when to save your data. It recopies only files that have changed since the last backup.
It is simple to create a Home Network using the Microsoft Network Wizard. If you are currently sharing a printer then you already have a home network. Once the network is established, you just need to install this SwapMyData software on each of your computers (one license covers all). Run the program and fill in the details of which computer you want to send data to and receive data from. Then select the files and folders that you want to save.
This software uses shared folders for the transfer of data to another computer, so each computer needs to have a shared folder specified. The software installation will create a shortcut on the desktop for a folder called "SharedDocs." You will need to double click on this shortcut and then right-click and select Properties. Once there, the 'Sharing' tab gives you the ability to specify this folder for sharing, and allowing the network users to change files in that folder. Following the swapping process, the files are automatically removed from the shared folders and stored in non-shared sub-folders. When saving files to an external drive on the same computer, shared folders are not used.
